The National PanHellenic Council Inc., Charlotte Chapter congratulates Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on its 102nd Founders’ Day


Charlotte, NC— January 16th, 2022 — The National PanHellenic Council Inc. - Charlotte Chapter celebrates the 102nd Founders’ Day Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The Sorority was founded on the campus of Howard University on January 16, 1920 and to date, has over 100,000 international members.


To the Founders, Arizona Cleaver Stemmons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts, Zeta was more than an organization-it was a movement, a belief system that reflected, at its core, the desire to provide true Service, to embrace Scholarship, to set a standard for Sisterly Love and to define the noble concept of Finer Womanhood. -Founders & First Initiates - Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (zphib1920.org) Zeta Phi Beta’s notable initiatives include Elder Care Initiative, Stork’s Nest, Zeta Prematurity Awareness Program (ZPAP), Adopt-A-School, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, International Women of Color, and Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc has two local chapters that are members of The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc.-Charlotte Chapter: Delta Zeta Chapter https://www.zetasofcharlotte.org/ and Psi Mu Zeta Chapter https://psimuzeta.org/


Today, we honor the sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The National PanHellenic Council Inc. - Charlotte Chapter celebrates the accomplishments of the past 102 years of service and salute you as you continue to provide Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) through Mind, Body and Spirit to empower people from all walks of life.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was founded on May 10, 1930 at Howard University in Washington, DC. The chartering organizations were: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In 1931, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., joined the council, followed by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. in 1937. The NPHC incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois in 1937. Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. joined the NPHC as its ninth (9th) affiliate member in 1997.
